About SALUTE
At least one million healthy life years are lost every year from traffic-related noise in the western part of Europe. … International, national and local authorities can use […] procedure for estimating burdens […] to prioritize and plan environmental and public health policies.

SALUTE: Smart Acoustic Lining for UHBR Technologies Engines
The aircraft industry is one, if not the most, important emitter of greenhouse gases, and is undertaking important efforts to find alternatives to their most polluting propulsion systems.
While electric propulsion does not seem mature enough for immediate implementation, the future of aircraft propulsion is likely to rely on Ultra-High Bypass Ratio (UHBR) engines architectures, that appear to lower the impact on climate change.
However, UHBR engines come with novel noise emission challenges, and technological breakthrough are expected in terms of acoustic treatments, addressing the following challenges:
- limited surface in next generation nacelles
- noise shift toward low frequencies
- adaptation to varying engine regimes
- optimization of weight and size
